This is a semi-regular publication of interviews with people who began cruising in the last few years or who have completed a cruise of under 2 years.
Background. In March of 2010, Livia founded the Interview With A Cruiser Project. With a growing regular readership, Livia asked for feedback on ways to keep the site useful. Via comments and direct emails the suggestion was raised to interview cruisers who had been cruising fewer than 2 years, who had finished a cruise of less than two years, or who had cruised for more than two years but not outside their home country. In this way, the "Newly Salted" companion site was formed.
Participants. The interviewees are cruisers who have cruised for less than 2 years, who had finished a cruise of less than two years, or who had cruised for more than two years but not outside their home country. . They could be still cruising or have completed their cruise. The interviewees are not in any way selected randomly but this is not a closed pool.
Anyone may suggest themselves or a friend for an interview. Read here about volunteering or suggesting an interviewee.
The interviewer is Livia formerly of SV Estrellita 5.10b.
Method. Livia asks the interviewees to respond from their personal experience and not to try to address all possible answers to any given question. Interviewees are asked to express how they cruise not how others should cruise. This is not a reference book on how to cruise but rather a sampling of real cruisers' individual personal experiences. Interviewees can select what type of questions they prefer to answer.
Timing. Interviews will come out sporadically, as they are submitted. For this reason, and so you don't miss them when they arrive, I recommend you subscribe either by email or by feed reader using the options at the bottom of the every page. Subscription options are at the bottom of this page. You can receive notices about new interviews by entering your email in the subscription field (I will not use your email or distribute it), or if you use a reader add this site's feed.
